11/9/12: Junior and Senior training full steam ahead!

This week sees a double bill of training for all members of Donaghadee Ladies Hockey Club with the Juniors starting their 6 week programme of hockey in the hour before the Seniors take to the pitch at Bangor Academy to continue their pre-season training. Designed for all girls between the ages of 10 and 15, regardless of experience, Junior training proved very popular last year and so it is again this season, with many of last year’s participants joining in for their second year. A mixture of fun, fitness and skills, this year’s programme will finish with a flourish at a three team mini tournament mid-October – the perfect opportunity for the young ones to show off their newly acquired skills! Places are still available but are limited, so please email dlhc@hotmail.co.uk for registration forms. Training every Tuesday evening at Bangor Academy: Juniors 6.30-7.30pm, seniors 7.30-8.30pm.

The numbers at senior training have been improving week on week as members return from holidays and other commitments and it’s great to see almost the full complement reporting back for duty. League matches are now just over a week away, with the first game for the Dee at home to local rivals Holywood on Saturday 22nd September. Pass back time will be confirmed next week, but what is certain is that Donaghadee will be opening their campaign on the astroturf of Bangor Academy, a welcome development for all at the club.
DLHC are taking a stand at the Community Showcase event in the First Presbyterian Church Hall on Saturday (15th September) between 11am and 3.30pm and members of the team will be available for a chat if you’d like more info about the club.
