Donaghadee Ladies Hockey Club are back for the 2016/17 season and things are looking bigger and better than ever. Members of DLHC will take part in the Donaghadee 5k tomorrow evening (Wednesday 10th August) before the final fitness session at Crommelin Park. Attention then turns back to the pitch, with the sticks being dusted off for the new season next Wednesday evening (17th August) on the astroturf at Bangor Grammar School from 7.30-9pm.
Under the continued tutelage of the vastly experienced Brian McKee, the club continues to flourish with two teams expected to compete in Ulster Hockey’s Senior League 3 and Junior League 7 this season. Indeed with the amalgamation of Senior 3 and Senior 4 during the off season, DLHC 1XI will renew acquaintances with Instonians and South Antrim amongst others while the 2XI will look forward to battles with these clubs’ second teams in Junior 7.
Off the pitch too, there are already fundraisers, bus trips, social gatherings and a ski trip in the pipeline in what is set to be another entertaining year at the Dee. The first of these events will be the inter-club Reds v Whites match on Saturday 20th August followed by a social gathering back in Donaghadee: all past, current and future DLHC players are welcome to partake.
