League matches get underway for both the 1XI and 2XI of Donaghadee Ladies Hockey Club this weekend, with the 1XI opening their Senior League 3 account away to Instonians on Friday night at Shaw’s Bridge (pass back 7pm), and the 2XI beginning their 2019/20 campaign at home to Owls 3XI on Saturday; passback at Bangor Grammar is at 1pm.
There has been terrific turnout at Wednesday night training over the last few weeks with a number of new faces joining the club during pre-season, and it will be exciting to see the new players integrating into the two teams as the season progresses.
Available players were put through their paces last Saturday thanks to a double header of friendlies at home against two strong Saintfield sides, and there’s no doubt the matches provided an excellent opportunity for players to get some match fitness and work on some positional play, despite both Dee teams suffering losses against the visitors.
Senior training for females aged 15+ every Wednesday night continues at Bangor Grammar from 7.30-9pm – and it’s not too late to join if you’d like to get back into hockey, or fancy a change of club.
Junior Training for Girls aged 11-13
DLHC Junior Training gets underway this Wednesday night at Bangor Grammar and we’re really excited to see the next generation of hockey players coming through! Initially a six week course, the focus is learning hockey skills while having fun, making new friends and keeping fit.
The course is open to all girls aged from 11 to 13 regardless of previous experience or ability, so whether hockey is all new for you, or you’ve played at school, DLHC would love you to join us to experience hockey in a fun and safe environment.
DLHC is an inclusive club and we welcome membership from all girls in the Ards and North Down area who are looking to learn the basics of hockey, improve their skills and join into a fun team sports environment.
